I. What does JPEG Compressor do?JPEG file format is a based on lossy algorithm. Depending on the quality level you desire, you can reduce the size of the original JPEG files to lower quality ones. Since it reduces the sizes, it will save the disk space and speed up the load/display time. The JPEG files you downloaded from Internet vary in size and qualities. Some of them are too big and the quality can be reduced without even be noticeable. Yamabay's JPEG Compressor can batch process them into smaller size JPEG files at the qality scale you specify. You can also reduce the size of the JPEG files interactively. II. How to use JPEG Compressor?First of all, you can download the JPEG Compressor version 2 here. In addition to JPEG Compressor, there are many other utilities you can download from here too. JPEG Compressor is so easy to use that only brief introductions are needed. After you installed the JPEG Compressor and run, the first screen and the main screen you are looking at is:
Under File menu item, there are Load File(s), Load Directory, and Exit . Depending on your need, you can load the file(s) individually, or load all the files in the sub-directory to the screen, or, working area. Once they are loaded, the screen will be like:
You can hightlight any of the file name and click on the button View Umage to view it. The Convert button will convert/compress the files checked, to the JPEG File Quality specified. The Quality level can be from 1 to 100, and the default is 80 . Under Options menu item, there are: Convert, Remove, Check and View Image. Convert and View Image have been mentioned. Remove means remove from the screen, it does not actually delete the image, and Check means check or uncheck the image for later convert/compress process. The three drop down list: Remove, Check and Load provide the same functions in different ways.
